AI Conversation Tips

Getting the best results from Coachreport's AI requires effective communication. Here are proven strategies:

Be Specific and Detailed

Instead of: "Good training session" Try: "Improved first touch under pressure, completed 8/10 passes in small-sided games, showed better communication with center-backs"

Instead of: "Played well" Try: "Scored from outside the box with excellent technique, tracked back consistently, made 3 key interceptions in defensive third"

Use the STAR Method

Structure your observations using:

  • Situation: What was happening?
  • Task: What was required of the player?
  • Action: What did they do?
  • Result: What was the outcome?

Example: "During our match against City United (Situation), when we were defending a corner kick (Task), Jamie positioned himself perfectly on the near post and cleared the ball with authority (Action), preventing what looked like a certain goal (Result)."

Cover All Development Areas

Provide Context

Help the AI understand:

  • Level of opposition: "Against stronger/weaker teams"
  • Match conditions: "In muddy conditions" or "Under floodlights"
  • Player circumstances: "First game back from injury"
  • Team situation: "When we were 2-0 down" or "Protecting a lead"

Use Examples and Stories

The AI responds well to specific scenarios:

  • "There was one moment in the second half when..."
  • "During the warm-up, I noticed..."
  • "In training on Tuesday, they showed..."

Be Honest and Balanced

  • Acknowledge both strengths and weaknesses
  • Don't exaggerate positives or negatives
  • Focus on development rather than criticism
  • Include progress since the last report

Common Mistakes to Avoid

โŒ Too vague: "Did okay" โŒ Only negatives: Focus only on what went wrong โŒ No context: "Scored a goal" (How? When? Significance?) โŒ Comparing to others: Focus on individual development โŒ Only match performance: Include training observations

Sample AI Conversation Starter

"Hi, I'd like to create a report for Sarah, our U14 midfielder. In our last three matches, she's really stepped up her game. Against Rovers last Saturday, she scored twice - one was a fantastic curled shot from the edge of the box after she drove forward from midfield, and the other was a simple tap-in but she made a brilliant run to get there. Her passing has improved massively, I'd say she's completing about 85% now compared to maybe 60% a few months ago. In training, she's been much more vocal, organizing the defensive line when we don't have possession..."

Remember: The more context and specific details you provide, the more accurate and valuable your reports will be.
